TOURNAMENT RULES & STRUCTURE

General Rules

  • The JEI National Esports League tournament will be an online only tournament for players residing in Jamaica.
  • Tournament operation and communication between Players and Tournament Organizer will happen over the communication platform, Guilded.
  • Players will provide their Guilded account upon registration for the tournament. 
  • Players are expected to be present in appropriate Guilded communication channel(s) while the tournament they are participating in is in play.
  • Player Check-In will begin on Guilded one hour prior to when tournaments will be starting. 
  • All players should also be registered via https://jamaicaesportsleague.com, and join the JEI guilded server
  • Winners should report the match score to the Tournament Organizer in the respective Guilded channels.
    • If there is a dispute you should record your match, this is to be used as ‘evidence’ to support your case.
    • If the match was not recorded your dispute may not be heard by the T.O.
  • Players must be present at the call time for a Match Set.  Players that are not present and ready to play within ten (10) minutes of this call time are subject to Match Set forfeiture.
  • If a Match Disruption occurs that is out of control of the Players of the Match Set, such as action of another Player’s un-desynced controller or a Game software crash or PC/console hardware failure making Players unable to continue a Match, the Tournament Organizer staff member shall order to restart the Match.
  • Players should make sure their network connections are NAT1 or NAT2. 
    • Players can check their connection status by going to “Settings > Network > View Connection Status” on their PlayStation 4 console. 
    • Players whose network connections are NAT3 may be unable to properly match with other players and may be subject to forfeiture of any Match Set in which they are unable to match with the opponent.

Event Rules

  • The Tournament Organizer has the right to decide outside or even against the rulebook in special cases to guarantee fair play.
  • Participating in our events requires you to consent to having your likeness being used in any media recorded for any JEI event for any of our publishing outlets.
  • Any violence that happens on the premises of the event for offline events, will have you warned or removed from the venue without a refund, and a possible ban may occur from future events depending on the severity of the act.
    • This includes (but not limited to):
      • Verbal abuse, discriminating actions (against bisexuals, transsexuals, homosexuals) or any race or religion that can be deemed discriminatory, disrespect to women and men alike, fighting, and/or assault.
  • Trash talking, cheering, and any interaction, must be kept respectful.
    • Anyone attempting to insult a player on issues that don’t pertain to the game will receive a warning.
  • All players are asked to ‘keep it PG.’ Foul language is punishable.
    • Two warnings will result in a DQ from all events and possible ejection from the tournament.
  • Anyone found with possession of or under the influence of, but not limited to:
    • Illegal Drugs including Marijuana or Alcohol, if you’re found to be under the age of 21 at the present time
    • Alcohol, if you’re over 21, but are visibly drunk and cannot conduct themselves in a way that would be suitable for the public, WILL be immediately ejected from the venue or event, and for the rest of the tournament’s duration. There will be no warnings, and no bias in these decisions.
      Smoking is only permitted in the designated areas outside the building.
    • Any player caught smoking at the event or online may be ejected, without warning, for the remainder of the event.
  • All attendees are responsible for their own belongings.
    • Being present at the venue, you agree that anything you bring into the venue is your responsibility.
    • Jamaica Esports Initiative staff therein claim no responsibility for items which are lost, damaged, or destroyed as a result of being on tournament grounds.
  • Any attendee caught tampering with, manipulating, or attempting to remove anything from a console or any equipment in the venue without expressed consent from Jamaica Esports Initiative Staff will be immediately ejected.
  • All recording is allowed with the stipulation that you don’t upload direct feed footage from the main stages.
  • Any visible hardware or software modifications to game systems are not allowed for hacking or backup loading usage.
  • No weapons, regardless of legality or license, will be allowed to be brought into the venue.
    • Any player found in possession of a weapon (Knife, Gun, etc.) will be immediately ejected from the event and barred from re­entering.
  • Any issues that arise outside of these terms will be processed on a case ­by ­case basis, and be judged by the Jamaica Esports Initiative Staff.

Tournament Rules

  • The Jamaica Esports Initiative reserves the right to deny entry to the tournament to any player suspected of committing anything considered a crime or acting in a manner that is detrimental to the integrity of the event.
  • The Tournament Organizers reserves the right to ban/reject any group or individual names or nicknames which may be offensive in nature or deemed inappropriate in any way
  • If players disagree on the stage, arena or venue to be chosen before a match then one will be selected at random, where random stage select is not available it will be decided by coin toss 
  • Players that are not present for their match, without giving the T.O. a valid reason for not being present, will have a period of two (2) minutes to report for their match with the required equipment. After the two minute period has expired, you will be forced to forfeit your Match.  
  • The T.O. reserves the right to settle any unforeseen situations that may occur, and their judgment is final.
  • In extreme situations, rules may be altered between phases of a tournament in the best interests of the event.
  • Games or sets are not to be replayed due to a misinterpretation of the rules; it is the players’ responsibilities to ask the T.O. for any clarification of the rule set in the event of a disagreement, and the outcome of a game or set will not be changed after the fact unless under extreme circumstances.
  • All forms of cheating are banned, including and not limited to:
    • aim bot
    • wall hack
    • hitboxes
    • using alternative accounts etc
  • Coaching: Any coaching that happens during the match (but not in between games of the set) is restricted.
    • Players who violate this rule will receive a warning (BOTH the player AND the person coaching the player) on the first attempt.
    • Players who violate this rule after a warning will be disqualified from the event and a possible ejection from the venue.
  • Collusion of any kind is considered cheating. 
    • If the T.O. determines that any competitor is colluding to manipulate the results or intentionally under performing, the collaborating players may be immediately disqualified. 
    • This determination is to be made at the sole discretion of the T.O.
    • Anyone disqualified in this manner forfeits all rights to any titles or prizes they might have otherwise earned for that tournament.
  • Any situation that can arise that is NOT listed, but could be an issue to the staff or the players will be taken care of at the discretion of the T.O.
    • You have a right to appeal to the T.O. about any minor offense that happens within your played event, however, the T.O. decision is final.
    • Any argument will result in further penalty or possible ejection from the venue depending on the severity of the act without a refund.

PRIZE PAYOUT

Prizes will be paid out within a minimum of 30 days after the completion of each competition. Players should ensure they are able to collect payout and prizes in person or designate a representative.

All decisions made by the T.O. are final
